Sport in the Company

Indisputable thesis: the basis of stable work of any company is a healthy and strong team.

The staff of JSC Irkutskenergo is more than 22 thousand people, and the majority of the company’s employees regularly goes in for sports. The power company disposes of 7 recreation centers and 2 pools; almost every branch has a gym.

JSC Irkutskenergo pays special attention to sports. Top-managers consider that healthy powermen are a recipe for the company’s stable work; and stable work of the company is a basis of the economy of the whole area.

The year of 2001 was full of various sports events held in the branches of the power supply system. Chess tournaments were held, which were devoted to Powermen Day, Fatherland Defender's Day. Thermal Power Station-3 was a cup-winner.

One of the basic events of the year held within the limits of employees' health improvement became Winter, Summer, and Autumn Sports Games of Irkutskenergo. Teams of all branches took part in them. The Company's mini-football competition was also held in the beginning of the year.

Powermen always participate in corporate sports tournaments and competitions with pleasure; they take part not only in competitions held by the branch. Each branch participates in sports events of the cities, where it is located. For example, Novo-Irkutsk Thermal Power Station constantly participates in the traditional volleyball tournament at the Irkutsk Aluminum Plant; Northern Power Grid contended for the winter football championship of Bratsk (it got the 3d place). The representatives of the branch participated in the International Marathon in Omsk; Thermal Power Station-11 participated in skiing competitions held among the enterprises of Usolye-Sibirskoe. Bratsk Thermal Network held friendly matches among divisions of the branch (football, volleyball, chess, checks, table tennis, swimming). And Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station surprised everybody with the unusual sports actions last year - 24-hour HPS coach's race and climbing up the high stairs which is located on the territory of the station.

This year the plan of sports events holding was not changed. Chess tournaments, mini-football and volleyball matches will be held as usual.
