The 34th Bandy World Championship for men's teams will be held between January 26 and February 2 in Irkutsk and Shelekhov at the Trud, Rekord, Zenit and Stroitel stadiums. EuroSibEnergo Group, Russia’s largest private power company, and Irkutskenergo, a power and coal company forming part of the Group, are partners of the Championship. Irkutskenergo has been funding Baikal-Energiya, the favorite team of the people of Irkutsk, and the region's children's and youth hockey schools for over a decade.

17 teams from the U.S., Finland, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Somalia and other countries will take part in the championship. We are happy to announce that the Russian squad includes two players from Baikal-Energiya of Irkutsk: Denis Rysev and Alexander Egorychev. Four more natives of Irkutsk (halfbacks Andrey Kovalev, Evgeny Shadrin, Pavel Dubovik and Alexander Nasonov, a forward) are in the Kazakh squad; Maxim Blem, a defender, will represent Latvia.

Vyacheslav Solomin, acting CEO of OJSC EuroSibEnergo: "The people of Irkutsk have been enthusiasts of bandy for over nine decades. Every season, dozens of thousands of fans watch bandy matches; this is unique to our region. Therefore, the fact that it is the capital of Eastern Siberia that will host the 34th World Championship has a symbolic significance. The Group will continue supporting the favorite team of the people of Irkutsk in the future, fostering the development of Russian hockey and promoting a healthy lifestyle."
