The First Robotics Festival Robosib is held in Irkutsk on November 28 and 29
On November 28 and 29, the First Robotics Festival Robosib was held in Irkutsk as part of the National Program “Robotics: Engineering and Technical Personnel of Innovative Russia”. The festival was organized by En+ Group and the Volnoe Delo Foundation of Oleg Deripaska; OJSC EuroSibEnergo was a partner of the festival.
75 teams comprising about 300 people from six regions of Siberia took part in the festival. The two-day festival included competitions in eight categories, roundtable discussions, workshops and consultations in robotics, as well as meetings with science-fiction writers Sergey Lukyanenko, Leonid Kaganov and Mikhail Uspensky.
Participants of the festival included divisions of EusoSibEnergo group of companies. For instance, the project of students of Irkutsk State Technical University from the team of OJSC Irkutskenergo’s corporate research center won in the Freestyle category. LLC Vostsibugol acted as the main sponsor of young robotics engineers from Cheremkhovo.
The team of ISU Lyceum, RobotTsY, won in the FLL category; the team Schastlivchiki (The Lucky Ones) from school No. 80 in Irkutsk ranked second, while Vesyolaya Troitsa (The Cheerful Trio) from lyceum No. 1 in Bratsk took third place. Two teams (Prime Numbers and Siberian Best; both teams are from Irkutsk) were awarded FTS certificates as winners. Second place also went to two teams (RoBuild from Bratsk and T.REX from Irkutsk), who were awarded the relevant certificates. The winning teams received grants for attending Robofest in Moscow. All participants of the competition received certificates and intellectually stimulating presents (construction sets).
Elena Rollins, Public Relations Director of En+ Group: “The most important thing we saw at the festival is a genuine interest of businesses and the government in developing technical creativity, and bright eyes of the children who put their ideas into practice. The Robosib Festival in Irkutsk will become a platform for robotics enthusiasts throughout Siberia; I am convinced that even more teams will participate in the next festival.”
Vyacheslav Solomin, acting CEO of OJSC EuroSibEnergo: “EuroSibEnergo’s participation in organizing events of this kind is crucial for enabling talented young people interested in technology to gain new knowledge and share their experience. I think it is quite possible that in the future they will be able to put their ideas into practice at companies forming part of our corporation, as this is one of the main opportunities for EuroSibEnergo to keep up with the latest technology and lay the foundation for future success.”
